In the Prints & Photographs auction, the work Prodigal Son sold for USD 1,920.00 (€ 1,678.03) - well above the upper estimate of USD 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Hart Benton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nashaquitsa in November last year with an auction result of USD 5,580,000.00 (€ 5,405,405.41).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Hart Benton erzielte im Januar 2024 bei Bonhams in Skinner Boston einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & Photographs wurde die Arbeit Prodigal Son für USD 1.920,00 (€ 1.678,03) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 900,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Hart Benton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nashaquitsa im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.580.000,00 (€ 5.405.405,41).
