In December 2011 Christies in London held the auction Sporting & Wildlife Art, Including An Important Private Collection of works by Wilhelm Kuhnert and David Shepherd, which included the work The shepherd's friend by Thomas George Cooper. The result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,796.46) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas George Cooper - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Landscape With Sheep By A Stream, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 4,200.00 (€ 6,224.67).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting & Wildlife Art, Including An Important Private Collection of works by Wilhelm Kuhnert and David Shepherd durch, in der auch die Arbeit The shepherd's friend von Thomas George Cooper zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.796,46) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas George Cooper mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Landscape With Sheep By A Stream beobachtet, die im Juni 2005 für GBP 4.200,00 (€ 6.224,67) versteigert wurde.
