In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Sheep and cattle resting by a lake by Thomas Francis Wainewright. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,920.82), 68% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Thomas Francis Wainewright; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Summer evening sold at auction in January 2005 with the realized price of GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,080.16).

Im März 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sheep and cattle resting by a lake von Thomas Francis Wainewright zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.175,00 (€ 1.920,82) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Thomas Francis Wainewright; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A Summer evening im Januar 2005 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.080,16).
