Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Feeding the chickens; and A summer landscape with a church in the distance by Thomas Edward Francis was sold in the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES auction at Christies in London in February 2004. It changed hands for a price of GBP 478.00 (€ 713.68) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Edward Francis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nine albums of drawings and watercolours of English landscapes, figurative studies and studies of farm implements (two illustrated), the majority inscribed and variously dated from 1921 to 1938, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,316.96).
