The work Boite de Kleenex (Abb. 21) by Thomas Demand was sold in the Contemporary Art auction at Bonhams in London in April 2021. It achieved a price of GBP 8,287.50 (€ 9,533.04), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 66%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Demand achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Yellowcake (Embassy I,II, III, IV, IV.a, V, VI, VII, VII.a) in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 413,000.00 (€ 375,659.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 66 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Boite de Kleenex (Abb. 21) von Thomas Demand wurde im April 2021 in der Auktion Contemporary Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 8.287,50 (€ 9.533,04) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 66%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Demand erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Yellowcake (Embassy I,II, III, IV, IV.a, V, VI, VII, VII.a) im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 413.000,00 (€ 375.659,45).
