A top price for Thomas Bardwell - as previously expected
The work Portrait of Francis Scott, Earl of Dalkeith (1721-1750), half-length, in Hussar uniform, in a feigned oval by Thomas Bardwell was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2016. The result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,691.62) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of Francis Scott, Earl of Dalkeith (1721-1750), half-length, in Hussar uniform, in a feigned oval is the most expensive artwork by Thomas Bardwell that we have observed at auctions so far.
