Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Théodule Ribot could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Masterworks from the Estate of Lila and Herman Shickman auction, the work La Prière changed hands for USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,392.95) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Théodule Ribot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La gourde vide (Die leere Flasche). in November 2015 with an auction result of EUR 200,000.00.
