Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Over the Dunes to the Sea, San Francisco by Theodore Wores was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in April last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,375.00 (€ 6,050.11). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Theodore Wores achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chinese Musicians in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 483,000.00 (€ 426,565.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Over the Dunes to the Sea, San Francisco von Theodore Wores im April letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.375,00 (€ 6.050,11) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Theodore Wores erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chinese Musicians im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 483.000,00 (€ 426.565,40).
