This work of art by Theodore Penleigh Boyd could be acquired at Christies in Melbourne in May 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS auction, the work Portsea changed hands for AUD 44,650.00 (€ 26,763.60) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of AUD 45,000.00 – 55,000.00. Other works by Theodore Penleigh Boyd have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2005 by the work The River at AUD 59,750.00 (€ 36,728.66).
