Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Tew Nai Tong was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 18,750.00 (€ 2,144.38). Other works by Tew Nai Tong have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in April 2015 by the work Malay Couple at HKD 32,500.00 (€ 3,756.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Tew Nai Tong im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 18.750,00 (€ 2.144,38) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Tew Nai Tong wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im April 2015 die Arbeit Malay Couple mit HKD 32.500,00 (€ 3.756,05).
