It achieved a price of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,389.82), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 67%. Admittedly, works by Tan Zekai have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy In Kaishu in April 2015 with an auction result of HKD 175,000.00 (€ 20,224.87).

Die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Regular Script von Tan Zekai wurde im März 2016 in der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.389,82) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 67%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tan Zekai auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy In Kaishu im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 175.000,00 (€ 20.224,87).
