In December 2009 Sothebys in Toronto held the auction Important Canadian Art, which included the work Queen Charlotte Strait, 1/87, Outside Of Pt. Port Hardy by Takao Tanabe. The »bidding war« ended at CAD 20,400.00 (€ 13,606.17), 70% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Takao Tanabe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Foothills, Banff sold at auction in May 2011 with the realized price of CAD 25,200.00 (€ 18,093.66).

Im Dezember 2009 führte Sothebys in Toronto die Auktion Important Canadian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Queen Charlotte Strait, 1/87, Outside Of Pt. Port Hardy von Takao Tanabe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von CAD 20.400,00 (€ 13.606,17) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Takao Tanabe; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Foothills, Banff im Mai 2011 mit dem Hammerpreis von CAD 25.200,00 (€ 18.093,66).
