This artwork by Sydney Herbert achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2001. In the THE PROPERTY OF THE LATE N. SINCLAIR, ESQ. auction, the work Babylon; and the Crucifixion of the Tyrians by Alexander the Great sold for GBP 4,465.00 (€ 7,485.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sydney Herbert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Emperor Tiberius approaching Capri, which sold at auction in March 2002 for GBP 11,162.50 (€ 18,247.75).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Sydney Herbert erzielte im Mai 2001 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion THE PROPERTY OF THE LATE N. SINCLAIR, ESQ. wurde die Arbeit Babylon; and the Crucifixion of the Tyrians by Alexander the Great für GBP 4.465,00 (€ 7.485,67) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sydney Herbert mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Emperor Tiberius approaching Capri beobachtet, die im März 2002 für GBP 11.162,50 (€ 18.247,75) versteigert wurde.
