Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Xerxes appointing his generals for the Grecian Expedition by Sydney Herbert was sold in the Victorian and British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in June 2010. It changed hands for a price of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,776.44) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sydney Herbert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Emperor Tiberius approaching Capri, which sold at auction in March 2002 for GBP 11,162.50 (€ 18,247.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Xerxes appointing his generals for the Grecian Expedition von Sydney Herbert wurde im Juni 2010 in der Auktion Victorian and British Impressionist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.776,44) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sydney Herbert mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Emperor Tiberius approaching Capri beobachtet, die im März 2002 für GBP 11.162,50 (€ 18.247,75) versteigert wurde.
