Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Karazaki Shogetsu Zu (Karazaki Pine In Moonlight) Maiko Gyoshoku Zu (Maiko At Dawn) by Suzuki Shonen was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,920.00 (€ 1,480.45). Admittedly, works by Suzuki Shonen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Autumn Grasses And Flowers; Reverse of Each Screen With Silhouettes of Mountains In Gold Leaf in March 2005 with an auction result of USD 9,000.00 (€ 6,939.63).
