Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May this year Bonhams in London held the auction From Harunobu to Hasui | Japanese Prints across the centuries, which included the work Tenugui no kihan (Returning Sail at the Cotton Hand Towel Rack) by Suzuki Harunobu. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,304.00 (€ 2,680.72), 15% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Suzuki Harunobu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Furyu enshoku Maneemon (Fashionable lusty Maneemon) in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 144,000.00 (€ 107,671.60).
