Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Susan Penelope Rosse achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2020. In the Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work Portrait Of Maria Of Modena, Queen Of England (1658-1718) sold for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,162.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Susan Penelope Rosse; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Louise Renée de Kérouaille, Duchess of Portsmouth and Aubigny (1649-1734), in lace-bordered blue dress, gem-set pendant at corsage, a further gem-set pendant at her left shoulder, her upswept brown hair dressed in ringlets sold at auction in November 2007 with the realized price of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 5,250.97).
