The work Face (Rabindranath Tagore) by Suhas Roy was sold in the Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba auction at Christies in New York in September last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,190.00 (€ 8,371.67), 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Suhas Roy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Midnight in July 2007 with an auction result of USD 57,000.00 (€ 41,572.46).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Face (Rabindranath Tagore) von Suhas Roy wurde im September letzten Jahres in der Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 8.371,67) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Suhas Roy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Midnight im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 57.000,00 (€ 41.572,46).
