Sunset at Changjiang with a Hundred Poems, 1845
Horizontal handscroll, ink on paper, titled by the artist in clerical script and signed Renshan, with artist's seals reading Renshan and Su Changchun, with a second inscription by the artist dated yisi and signed Su Changchun with the artist's seals Changchun and Huadong xiao shenxian, mounted with four colophons, the first by Wu Xuezao (19th century) dated wuxu (1898), the second by He Zuogan (19th-20th century) dated wuxu, the third by Du Ruji (19th century) dated wuxu, and the fourth by Li Changxi (1851-1932) dated Guangxu bingwu (1906).

In September 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy III, which included the work Sunset At Changjiang With A Hundred Poems, 1845 by Su Renshan. The »bidding war« ended at USD 62,812.50 (€ 54,256.28), 57% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Su Renshan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Landscape sold at auction in September 2016 with the realized price of USD 112,500.00 (€ 100,106.78).

Im September 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy III durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunset At Changjiang With A Hundred Poems, 1845 von Su Renshan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 62.812,50 (€ 54.256,28) und damit 57% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Su Renshan; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Landscape im September 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 100.106,78).
