Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Tai Tung Shan (From Pak Kung Au to Mui Wo Pier) by Stephen Wong Chun Hei was worth HKD 1,071,000.00 (€ 132,902.35) to a buyer in November last year. This price was achieved in the auction Post-Millennium Evening Sale at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 250,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Stephen Wong Chun Hei; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot MacLehose Trail: Section 10 sold at auction in October this year with the realized price of HKD 1,143,000.00 (€ 138,224.26).
