Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Westward and Britannia leading the pack off Norris Castle, Isle of Wight by Stephen J. Renard was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art auction at Christies in London in July 2016. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,426.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Stephen J. Renard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Yankee, Ranger and Endeavour II racing in the New York Yacht Club Criuse, 1937 in July 2004 with an auction result of USD 77,675.00 (€ 64,557.01).
