Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Composition by Stephen Gilbert was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,930.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Stephen Gilbert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Man and Horse in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,722.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Composition von Stephen Gilbert kam im September 2018 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.930,95) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Stephen Gilbert auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Man and Horse im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.800,00 (€ 24.722,34).
