Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Red Square by Stephen Antonakos was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2015, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,698.22). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Stephen Antonakos; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot "Red and blue incomplete circle" sold at auction in April 2021 with the realized price of SEK 95,000.00 (€ 9,342.06).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Red Square von Stephen Antonakos im Februar 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.698,22) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Stephen Antonakos; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit "Red and blue incomplete circle" im April 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von SEK 95.000,00 (€ 9.342,06).
