This price was achieved in the auction Important Australian Art at Bonhams in Sydney and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of AUD 30,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Stella Bowen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Jardin Exotique, c.1938 sold at auction in November 2021 with the realized price of AUD 123,000.00 (€ 108,974.93).
