i) Two children on a beach, 3 3/8 by 5 1/4 in., matted, glazed and framed (15 1/4 by 12 1/4 in.); ii) vignette of two peacock feathers and china, 2 1/4 by 3 1/4 in., matted, some browning and minor spotting; iii) vignette of fan and vase on a shelf, 1 3/4 by 1 1/2 in., some browning; all ink and watercolour drawings, unsigned, some minor spotting

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three illustrations, comprising: i) Two children on a beach ii) vignette of two peacock feathers and china iii) vignette of fan and vase on a shelf by John George Sowerby was sold in the Original Illustration Art from the Collections of Kendra and Allan Daniel auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2011. The price achieved of USD 1,250.00 (€ 843.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by John George Sowerby have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Michelmas Daisies in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 2,640.00 (€ 3,917.63).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.250,00 (€ 843,40) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John George Sowerby auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Michelmas Daisies im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.640,00 (€ 3.917,63).
