Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 1 3 5 7 9 11 by Sol LeWitt was auctioned at Christies in London in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 214,200.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sol LeWitt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Wavy Brushstrokes, which sold at auction in July 2015 for GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 1 3 5 7 9 11 von Sol LeWitt kam im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 214.200,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes beobachtet, die im Juli 2015 für GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19) versteigert wurde.
