SIR WILLIAM RUSSELL FLINT, R.A., P.R.W.S. (1880-1969) The Absent Ferryman signed 'W. RUSSELL FLINT-' (lower left), signed again and inscribed 'The Absent Ferryman W Russell Flint' (on the reverse, on the backboard and on a label attached to the backboard) watercolour and bodycolour on paper 10 1 ⁄ 2 x 14 1 ⁄ 2 in. (26.6 x 36.8cm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Christies in London held the auction Five Private Collections, which included the work The Absent Ferryman by William Russell Flint. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,611.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Russell Flint achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Judgement of Paris in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 407,250.00 (€ 481,321.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Five Private Collections durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Absent Ferryman von William Russell Flint zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.611,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Russell Flint erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Judgement of Paris im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 407.250,00 (€ 481.321,84).
