The work Maquette for Madonna and Child by Jacob Epstein was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2019. It achieved a price of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,484.89), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 67%. Admittedly, works by Jacob Epstein have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sir Winston Churchill in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 182,500.00 (€ 228,025.02).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 67 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Maquette for Madonna and Child von Jacob Epstein kam im November 2019 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.484,89) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 67%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jacob Epstein auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sir Winston Churchill im Juni 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 182.500,00 (€ 228.025,02).
