Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Upper Terrace House, Main Entrance; And Upper Terrace House, The Garden Front by Hugh Casson for GBP 504.00 (€ 740.44). This price was achieved in the auction A VIEW OVER EATON SQUAREA PRIVATE COLLECTION at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hugh Casson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An original architectural plan for the Festival of Britain, 1951, which sold at auction in December 2002 for GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,525.16).
