In December this year Christies in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work 'Justice', Study for a stained glass window in Kolkata Cathedral by Edward Burne-Jones. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,257.36), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Burne-Jones achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Love among the Ruins in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 14,845,875.00 (€ 16,963,999.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Justice', Study for a stained glass window in Kolkata Cathedral von Edward Burne-Jones zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.300,00 (€ 7.257,36) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Burne-Jones erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Love among the Ruins im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.845.875,00 (€ 16.963.999,76).
