Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lucas Vorsterman (Hollstein, Mauquoy-Hendrickx 14; New Hollstein 12) by Anthony van Dyck was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Sothebys in London in September 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,746.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anthony van Dyck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Princess Mary (1631–1660), daughter of King Charles I of England, full-length, in a pink dress decorated with silver embroidery and ribbons in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 5,858,750.00 (€ 6,527,167.10).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Princess Mary (1631–1660), daughter of King Charles I of England, full-length, in a pink dress decorated with silver embroidery and ribbons im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.858.750,00 (€ 6.527.167,10).
