This artwork by Alfred East achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2012. In the Peter Langan: A Life with Art auction, the work Snow on the Downs sold for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,415.97) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alfred East; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Amberley Bridge sold at auction in December 2007 with the realized price of GBP 18,500.00 (€ 25,138.36).
