Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saint John The Evangelist by Simone Cantarini was sold in the Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. The price achieved of USD 40,320.00 (€ 33,065.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Simone Cantarini have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of A Seated Gentleman And A Lady Holding A Rosary in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 408,000.00 (€ 323,193.92).
