Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saint Paul by Simon Vouet was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2012. The price achieved of USD 290,500.00 (€ 222,554.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simon Vouet - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Madonna and Child, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 504,000.00 (€ 469,667.32).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Saint Paul von Simon Vouet wurde im Januar 2012 in der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 290.500,00 (€ 222.554,20) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Simon Vouet mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Madonna and Child beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 504.000,00 (€ 469.667,32) versteigert wurde.
