Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Gothic Window, Aug. 1980'; 'Witley Court, Worcestershire Nov. 1981' by Simon Marsden was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 223.25 (€ 381.60). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simon Marsden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Coolbawn House, Co. Wexford, Ca. 1975 Gothic Window, Castle Bernard, Co. Cork, Ca. 1975 Milton Lockhart House, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Ca. 1978 Plas Pren, Denbighshire, Wales, Ca. 1978 in April 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,325.39).
