Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Moeder en kind: A mother with her child by Simon Maris was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in January 2005. The price achieved of EUR 3,600.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simon Maris - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two young girls in the dunes, which sold at auction in March 2000 for NLG 23,404.00 (€ 9,956.60).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 3.600,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Simon Maris mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Two young girls in the dunes beobachtet, die im März 2000 für NLG 23.404,00 (€ 9.956,60) versteigert wurde.
