Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Simon Casson could be acquired at Christies in London in October 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 20th Century British Art auction, the work Venus Presenting Arms to Aeneas changed hands for GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,549.28) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simon Casson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Without Liberation Or Myrtle - Boughs, which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 4,500.00 (€ 6,114.74).
