Despite a disappointment, a good price for Sidney Goodwin
In May 2000 a collector was able to acquire the work Rowing ashore by Sidney Goodwin for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,885.44). This price was achieved in the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Rowing ashore is the most expensive artwork by Sidney Goodwin that we have observed at auction so far.
