Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection, which included the work Actors from Osaka in various roles by Shunbaisai Hokuei. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,764.00 (€ 2,052.45), 18% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shunbaisai Hokuei - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A double okubi-e portrait of two actors, which sold at auction in July 2018 for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,325.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Actors from Osaka in various roles von Shunbaisai Hokuei zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.764,00 (€ 2.052,45) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Shunbaisai Hokuei mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A double okubi-e portrait of two actors beobachtet, die im Juli 2018 für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.325,79) versteigert wurde.
