Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Two woodblock prints by Shibata Zeshin for GBP 1,008.00 (€ 1,172.83). This price was achieved in the auction Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,400.00 – 1,800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shibata Zeshin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album Of Twelve Lacquer Paintings in September 2013 with an auction result of USD 339,750.00 (€ 251,015.88).
