Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Shibata Zeshin could be acquired at Sothebys in London in December 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Japanese Prints auction, the work Five woodblock prints changed hands for GBP 1,134.00 (€ 1,352.62) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shibata Zeshin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album Of Twelve Lacquer Paintings in September 2013 with an auction result of USD 339,750.00 (€ 251,015.88).
