In September 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Shinobazu no ike (Shinobazu Pond) by Shiba Kokan. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,600.00 (€ 12,296.05), 73% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shiba Kokan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Three Europeans on horseback in landscape, ca. 1789-1801, which sold at auction in September 2006 for USD 45,600.00 (€ 35,942.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 73 % übertroffen
Im September 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Japanese and Korean Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shinobazu no ike (Shinobazu Pond) von Shiba Kokan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.600,00 (€ 12.296,05) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Shiba Kokan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Three Europeans on horseback in landscape, ca. 1789-1801 beobachtet, die im September 2006 für USD 45.600,00 (€ 35.942,30) versteigert wurde.
