Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Letter From India by Shanti Panchal was worth GBP 6,400.00 (€ 7,448.50) to a buyer in June this year. This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art at Bonhams in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Shanti Panchal; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Setting Sun sold at auction in October 2004 with the realized price of GBP 5,975.00 (€ 8,599.67).
