A top price for Shane Cotton - as previously expected
In April 2006 Christies in Melbourne held the auction Australian, International & Contemporary Paintings Part II, which included the work Man Carrying Light by Shane Cotton. The price achieved of AUD 34,655.00 (€ 20,844.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Man Carrying Light is the most expensive artwork by Shane Cotton that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im April 2006 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion Australian, International & Contemporary Paintings Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Man Carrying Light von Shane Cotton zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 34.655,00 (€ 20.844,06) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Man Carrying Light das teuerste Kunstwerk von Shane Cotton, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
