This artwork by Sebastiano Luciani achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2007. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Portrait of a man, traditionally identifed as Federico Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua (1500-1540), half-length, in a black coat sold for USD 265,000.00 (€ 183,162.84) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sebastiano Luciani achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Vision Of Saint Anthony Abbot in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 3,150,000.00 (€ 2,618,453.87).
