Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Bay of Naples by Sebastian Pether was sold in the Master Paintings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. It changed hands for a price of USD 8,820.00 (€ 7,268.23) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sebastian Pether - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vesuvius erupting by moonlight, which sold at auction in July last year for GBP 20,400.00 (€ 24,361.22).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Bay of Naples von Sebastian Pether wurde im Januar 2021 in der Auktion Master Paintings Part II bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 8.820,00 (€ 7.268,23) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 7.000,00 – 9.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sebastian Pether mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Vesuvius erupting by moonlight beobachtet, die im Juli letzten Jahres für GBP 20.400,00 (€ 24.361,22) versteigert wurde.
