Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2007 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works, which included the work Australian Mount Macedon From The Old Road To Castlemaine by Samuel Thomas Gill. It changed hands for a price of AUD 17,400.00 (€ 10,404.79) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of AUD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Samuel Thomas Gill have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Princes Bridge, Melbourne, c.1854 in November 2020 with an auction result of AUD 79,950.00 (€ 66,914.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2007 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Mount Macedon From The Old Road To Castlemaine von Samuel Thomas Gill zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von AUD 17.400,00 (€ 10.404,79) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Thomas Gill auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Princes Bridge, Melbourne, c.1854 im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 79.950,00 (€ 66.914,96).
