Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection, which included the work A woodland study - possibly Clovelly Park, Devon by Samuel Palmer. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,710.00 (€ 11,964.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Palmer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Shepherd leading his flock under the full moon in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 1,588,000.00 (€ 1,862,259.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit A woodland study - possibly Clovelly Park, Devon von Samuel Palmer zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 10.710,00 (€ 11.964,02) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Samuel Palmer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Shepherd leading his flock under the full moon im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.588.000,00 (€ 1.862.259,27).
