Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Past the starting post; and Mounting up (illustrated) by Samuel Alken Junior was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours auction at Christies in London in October 2006. The price achieved of GBP 840.00 (€ 1,255.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Alken Junior achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Leaving The Kennel; And Full Cry in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 109,000.00 (€ 70,015.42).
