In August 2006 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental and Russian Pictures, which included the work Penny Otto, Croix de Guerre and O.B.E., Junior Commander in Eighth Army; Lieutenant General C.G.G., Nicholson, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., M.C.; Countess Alea Lelli, Leader of Woman's League in Rome; Royal Artillery Gunner Surveyor; P.R. Burley, O.C. Admin by Sam Morse Brown. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,120.00 (€ 4,639.64), 25% above the upper estimate. Other works by Sam Morse Brown have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 5,400.00 (€ 8,030.14) in August 2006 for the work The crucifixion of humanity.
